Szczerba Golf Outing

The Annual Szczerba Golf Outing has been an ongoing tradition for the past 29 years. Each year, family and friends come together to enjoy a great day of golf, food, and spirits.

This year, the Szczerba family is proud to announce the 30th Annual Szczerba Golf Outing, which will be held on September 16, 2026 at the Chesapeake Bay Golf Club, Rising Sun.

In Memory of Joe Szczerba

Since our brother, Lt. Joe Szczerba NCCPD, lost his life in the Line Of Duty on September 16, 2011, the family’s primary goal has been to keep Joe’s memory and spirit alive. The annual Szczerba golf outing will now be a gathering of great joy and an unbelievable loss. The joy is remembering how much Joe enjoyed the outing and what a valuable resource he was to its success. The loss is the void that will never be filled with Joe’s absence.

In keeping Joe’s memory and spirit alive, starting in 2012, the option to purchase mulligans in Joe’s honor was made available to the golfers at the outing. Mulligans are $5.00 each with a maximum of four to be purchased by a golfer. 100% of the mulligan funds are donated to the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Joe’s name. This is a charity, which Joe was passionate about, and it allows Joe’s community service to continue.

For the 29th Annual Szczerba Golf Outing, 86 golfers very generously donated a total of $1,365.00 towards the Mulligans for Joe. The Szczerba family wants to say a heartfelt thank you for supporting this memorial effort.

The Szczerba family is proud to announce that a Hole in One was made on the 2nd hole during the 17th Annual Szczerba Golf Outing. Steve Griffith made the hole in one and received a set of irons from Hole In One International. Steve has been the only golfer to have a hole in one in our ongoing family golf outing to date.
